Does anyone have an update on where things are at with the writers strike? It’s disappeared from my various feeds and algorithms.
The writers’ strike is ongoing and the studios are still not returning to the negotiating table. Unfortunately a lot of the coverage has tapered off because we’re on 50+ days of striking and it’s not new anymore. The last strike in 2007 lasted 100 days, so don’t be surprised if this strike lasts as long, or even longer.
The biggest recent news is that the Directors’ Guild of America (DGA) voted to ratify their new agreement with the studios (article from June 23), and it appears likely that the actors’ guild (SAG-AFTRA) will also take a deal instead of striking (article from June 24). Although this is disappointing news, it’s completely expected. During previous strikes, the WGA held its own without other unions going on strike. Which is to say—don’t be disheartened by the news that there won’t be a triple strike. The WGA is strong enough!
Please keep vocally supporting the WGA online to keep the pressure on the studios & to keep WGA members motivated and encouraged! There are many ongoing donation drives, such as the Star Trek fan snack squad (Twitter account required to DM the organizer) and the Our Flag Means Death snack squad (opens the PayPal fundraising page—no Twitter required). There’s a longer list of ongoing donation drives here.
The Entertainment Community Fund is also always accepting donations to support entertainment workers affected by the strike. Please boost and encourage your friends to keep supporting the strike. Hashtag #IStandWithTheWGA #DoTheWriteThing to boost the cause!
You gotta love that Tumblr is on the rise because of Twitter and Reddit going down, and not because Tumblr has actually done anything to really improve its website.
I personally kin with a website that accidentally and coincidentally fails upwards.
The site that wins simply by remaining upright.
We are literally this meme, posted eons ago, in our ancient texts.
We already have written our story, our destiny, in the art we forget.
I know I’m late but I needed to make this. Also I have a theory as to what happened:
AIR ORCAS
Update: he’s alive ://///
You’ll get him next time air orcas! I believe in you!
Number one reason I love this hellsite
The destiel meme has transcended just being a meme and is simply a way of delievering news. I just saw three major current events trending and all of them had destiel as the first image
I love it here

If a flaming old queen in a cape wants to kill off racists in power I say have at it
That wasn’t even his plan!! His plan was to make the senator a mutant, so he’d have to advocate for mutants or be destroyed by his own policy, and tbh. It’s the best villain plan I’ve ever seen. The goo was the plan unexpectedly failing. 9/10 only bc he was going to kill Rogue. Next time use someone willing to sacrifice herself for the cause, pls. No further notes
BREAKING: Scandal rocks the Republican-controlled Supreme Court as it’s revealed that the wife of far-right Justice Samuel Alito leased land to an oil & gas company while her husband was fighting to dismantle the EPA — a shocking conflict of interest even by the GOP’s corrupt standards.
Last year, Martha Ann Bomgardner Alito leased a 160-acre plot of land in Oklahoma to Citizen Energy III to develop oil and gas resources on the property. If the land proves profitable, she will fatten her wallet with 3/16ths of all the money generated.
The potentially massively lucrative deal casts a new light on a political war that Justice Alito has been waging for years to destroy the Environmental Protection Agency.
For the longest time, it appeared that Alito was fighting the EPA simply to benefit the fossil fuel companies that own the GOP. It now turns out that he may also be lining his family’s pockets in the process.
Notably, Alito penned a majority decision that gutted much of the Clean Water Act — a move that was supported and celebrated by powerful gas and petroleum interests. He has also targeted the Clean Air Act.
Insanely, Alito also delivered remarks at a conservative think tank in 2017 claiming that “carbon dioxide is not a pollutant” because it is “not harmful to ordinary things, to human beings, or to animals, or to plants.” That, of course, was a shameless lie.
Alito in already embroiled in scandal after it was recently discovered that he corruptly accepted an expensive fishing trip and luxury jet ride from a right-wing billionaire worth over $100,000.
This man is making a complete mockery of American democracy and his continued, blatant corruption proves that the Supreme Court is in desperate need of reform. If something is not done, the institution will collapse completely into illegitimacy.
in order to remove the sexual stigma placed on breasts, we must move past the act of shaming people who are brave enough to go topless in public. myself and another transfem friend went topless at our local pride parade not because we were trying to be “sexual” at pride, but to protest the idea that some chests are viewed as inherently sexual and illegal to be viewed publicly, while some are not. it’s not a sexual act for someone with breasts to take their shirt off.
i did not have anyone give me rude or sexual comments. i received a lot of approving nods, thumbs up and polite compliments, people were even reminding me that that’s the spirit of pride, and hoped that they were brave enough to do the same in the future.
sometimes it’s nearly 100 degrees and people with breasts get dangerously overheated. sometimes people with breasts just don’t want to wear a shirt. their breasts are not an object for you to get upset about. their breasts are not an object for you to make a moral argument about. their breasts are a part of their body, and they’re not scarring or hurting anyone by existing, they are another organ on the human body and someone else’s breasts are not up for you to debate about.
Excellent Point
Image description: “Reflecting on it, the reason I think the OceanGate situation has become such a flashpoint for anger is because it’s such a perfect microcosm of the problem with everything right now. Decisions are not made based on safety, reasonable caution, or concern for human life. Every decision is instead made from a default assumption of what if the bad thing just DIDN’T happen?’ We are given pie-in-the-sky promises and sizzle reels and an endless PR hype-cycle for every new innovation and inevitably it fails to work, harms people, and then is maybe barely apologized for before the next bad idea comes down the pike. OceanGate’s underengineered, undercooked, doomed submarine isn’t merely a metaphor for the hubris of the wealthy, it is a scale model of the way the wealthy dictate our reality. All consequences can be ignored, all blowback can be forestalled, let the end-user eat the cost. I am not angry because the submarine was badly-made. I am angry because I live in a vastly larger pressure vessel being managed and maintained by the exact same people.
